Show Off September: Michelle is Naturally Gorgeous!!!

Hello Chic-istas!!! I have another beautiful naturalista to show off today!! Meet Michelle! She is a natural hair blogger and vlogger with beautiful and I mean gorgeous hair!!! I am so excited about meeting her in Dallas at the All Star Natural Hair Weekend and it was great getting to learn a little more about her and her natural hair journey. So, without further delay, meet the beautiful Michelle.

Nappturally Chic Jere: Hello Michelle and thanks so much for sharing with us... Tell us a little about yourself.

Michelle: Hi my name is Michelle B. I'm a  27 years old from Chicago, IL.  and the founder of www.happilyevernatural.com . I love everything Natural hair!!!

NCJ: Chi-Town Represent!!!! Lol! So, Tell me about your hair before going natural. How did you feel when you first relaxed yourhair? Were you frustrated with your relaxed hair?

Michelle: Before going natural my hair would never grow past my shoulders. I never really had very short hair but it was not as long as it is now. My mother actually relaxed my hair at a young age. So of course I wanted to be like the other girls and wear my hair straight and long. As I grew older I became frustrated with my hair because it was dry and would constantly break off. Going natural was the best thing that I could have done!

NCJ: I can completely relate, best decision ever!!  When and why did you decide to go natural?

Michelle: I transitioned to natural, From 2009-2011. It was a long process but it was well worth it. I decided to go natural because my hair was weak brittle and would not grow. I decided it was time for a change. I transitioned and had no idea I was “transitioning” LOL. I just thought I was growing my perm out! I transitioned for 2 years. I did mini chops in between until I was ready to completely cut the rest of the relaxed ends.

NCJ: What was your biggest fear about going natural? How did you overcome it?

Michelle: My biggest fear was to do the big chop. But I found a way around that!!

NCJ: Mines too, I admire your patience to transition for two years.... Wow. What are your favorite styles, favorite hair products and a couple of pictures of your best hair days?

Michelle: My favorite styles are my infamous “Marley Twists”, twist and curl, braid and curl, and I LOVE BUNS!!! My favorite hair products are the WHOLE edenbodyworks line … that stuff is amazing. Also I love Qhemet biologics aethiopika hydrate and twist butter!

NCJ: I love their coconut Shea line and your Marley Twist are always gorgeous!!! Do you any advice you would give to other new naturals or those thinking of going natural.

Michelle: Patience is key! Don’t compare your hair to your hair crush, It takes time!! There are lots of resources out here like YouTube, blogs etc.!! You are not in this alone!! Don’t give up!

NCJ: Great advice!!! what was the Biggest lesson you have learned about yourself and your hair through your journey.

Michelle: The biggest lesion that I have learned about myself is that my natural hair is beautiful, and that I did not need a perm to feel pretty! I LOVE everything about myself including my hair, even on the days when I am like this is just too much.

NCJ: Love it!!!! Do you have any social forums that will allow other naturals to keep up with all of your fabulousness?
