Sunday Chic Edition: Chic Style for a Cause

As woman, we face many health challenges... One such challenge, is the risk of Breast Cancer. If you asked a crowded room of woman twenty years ago if they knew someone who suffered from, or succumb to Breast Cancer, few hands would have gone up. Today, if I asked the same question, I don't believe there would be a hand that isn't up.

Did you know...
1) There are about 232,340 new cases of invasive breast cancer in women
2) About 39,620 deaths from breast cancer (women)
3) Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women in the United States, other than skin cancer.
4) It is the second leading cause of cancer death in women, after lung cancer.
5) The chance of a woman having breast cancer some time during her life is about 1 in 8.
6) Fortunately, there are more than 2.9 million breast cancer survivors in the United States. This is due to fact that woman are getting frequent screenings and early diagnosis.

Today in church, we stood together as one of our members is scheduled to undergo treatment and surgery for Breast Cancer. In a moment of unity and true solidarity, the members of Solid Rock Church of God, stood together and decided to dress in different shades of pink to stand with our sister. I looked around the congregation and the abundance of pink on men, woman, boys, and girls was inspiring and moving.

The people came out chic and fashionable for a wonderful cause. We supported our sister and we are praying for a successful surgery, a speedy recovery, and a cancer free life. I am using this platform to encourage those who believe in the power of prayer, to remember this woman of God and to believe with us, that every plan of the enemy is cancelled today, at this very moment. If you know someone who is a cancer survivor, please leave their first name below, so that we can celebrate their triumphant together. If you knew someone that has passed due to cancer, leave their name below, so we can celebrate their life together.
