My Big Chop- My Natural Hair Story PT 2

From Big Chop to Healthy Fro/Curls
After almost a year of transitioning, I chopped off my hair on November 1st, 2011. I had India.Arie's "I Am Not My Hair," blasting in the background as the last of my relaxed ends hit the ground. I thought I was going to feel this instant feeling of liberation, acceptance, and beauty... I didn't. I just had a baby, my face was full and chubby, and this was the first time in my entire life that my hair was short! I cried as I looked in the mirror and began to doubt my decision... apparently, I was my hair. After a couple of months of covering it up with braids, wigs, and weaves, I got over it! I reminded myself why I started this journey and unleashed my natural hair. My first hairstyle of choice was a Bantu Knot out. I rocked my short fro bravely with my cutest outfit and my biggest earrings. I looked in the mirror and the person looking back at me was Nappturally Chic!! Nappturally Beautiful!! Nappturally ME!!

(Right after I cut my hair... I left a small amount of relaxed ends in the front and the sides because it was a so uneven)
