Chic Brows

If your eyes are the windows to your soul, then your eyebrows must be the gorgeous window frame you pick out to help beautify them. The shape, maintenance, and appearance of the brows are an integral part of the appearance of your face. They frame your eyes, give you a polished look, and serve as the foundation to any makeup look on your eyes.

Did you know that in most instances, your brows are the first thing people notice on your face. Having a brow that is too thick will have people subconsciously stare only at your brow while a really thin brow will draw attention to the lower part of your face making you lose the symmetry of your beautiful face.

To shape your brows effectively, you want to remember these few tips...

1) If you are unsure of how to shape your brows, seek a professional and ask friends with GREAT BROWS, where they go to shape and maintain them. If you start with a great shape from a professional, you can easily maintain it by plucking away the stray hairs outside the shape.

2) You eyebrow shape should follow these guidelines: Your brow should start around the middle of your nose, the tip of your nose to the iris should be where you start the arch and corner of your nose is where the eyebrow should end.

3) Keep your shape as natural as possible! Never over wax or pluck your brows to create the "pencil brow." It actually ages your face. Never create an extreme arch in your brow. (think Cruella DeVille). Unnatural arches will make you appear angry, confused, surprised etc...
Circa 2002, I was 18 and went to a lady who did this to my brows.
What brows you ask?? Exactly my point LOL!!
4) No one likes a uni-brow but don't over tweeze between the brows... It can make your nose look bigger and broader and take away the natural shape of your brows.

5) If you have blond/ light colored hair, your brows should be a shade darker. If you have dark colored hair, your brows should be a shade lighter. To my naturals out there with Jet Black to Dark Brown Hair... NEVER use a black pencil to fill in brows. It looks unnatural and it will look shiny and purple in the sunlight. Use a Dark Brown kohl pencil with a light hand and paint brushlike strokes.

6) Invest in taking care of them professionally at least every three weeks. Eyebrow waxing and threading vary in price from $6 to $30. You don't have to pay big bucks to get perfect eyebrows, ask around and find someone who is affordable yet skilled. Be clear and upfront about what you want and how you want your eyebrows to look. (I spend about $8 to get my eyebrows waxed and $10 to get them threaded. I go every month and use my tricks to give a polished brow even when they are growing back)

7) If you find a great eyebrow technician, stick with them and don't move from person to person. Doing this can result in a botched up job!! Trust me! I speak from experience. (Remind me to tell about that time security was almost called on me after this lady massacre my brows... Lol)

What if it's too late and you have already ruined the shape of your brows? Speaking from experience, it is not too late! If you have committed these eyebrow don'ts, you can still achieve a good brow while you are waiting for them to grow back.

1) Stop waxing, plucking, and threading. Walk away, hide your tweezer and drop the wax very slowly!!!
2) Use a concealer a little lighter than your complexion to outline shape and use a eyebrow pencil
or brow powder in the correct color to fill in sparse brows.
3) Invest in products that help stimulate the growth of your brows. (Anastasia Brow Enhancing Serum)
4) Consult with a Professional!!!
